At the recent Parish Council meeting (Apr 18), following a presentation on the survey conducted and working group deliberations on the 6 tenders received, the PC have decided to press on with the plans for the redevelopment of the Parish play equipment. The full survey results will be available on the Parish website, but by means of summary:
- 111 surveys completed
- Overwhelming support (>83%) for improved/expanded playground provision
- Overwhelming support for investing in a single site in the current location on the Green
- Overwhelming support for a predominantly natural timber design
Therefore the PC have chosen to progress with one of the tendering companies and will aim to replace the current play equipment on the Green and remove all the ageing equipment there and at Hammer Lane. The plan will also include some gym equipment and seating areas. There are 2 grant processes now underway to secure around 95% of the £100,000 cost. The timescale for the project will be dictated by these grants and thus the PC are hopeful of completion in the Autumn (the current playgrounds will remain until installation begins).
Many thanks to all who helped shape this community project.
